New partnership broadens opportunities for IM students, families, and educators to discover mathematics in everyday environments through exploration, games, and shared experiences.
April 8, 2026 — Supporting mathematical growth involves more than what happens during class time. Students build deeper understanding when they connect the mathematics they learn in school to the world around them. That’s why Illustrative Mathematics is proud to welcome MathTalk as a new IM Certified partner.
MathTalk is an educational initiative and technology platform designed to help children discover math at home as well as in school, parks, libraries, health clinics, and other community spaces. It combines physical installations, games, and digital tools to encourage students to talk about and explore math. Omowale Moses, CEO and founder of MathTalk, said his goal is to “inspire children and the adults that care for them to enjoy math everywhere!”
“When children see math everywhere, it stops being abstract and starts being meaningful,” said Dr. Kristin Umland, CEO and cofounder of Illustrative Mathematics. “We’re excited to partner with MathTalk to help families and communities turn everyday experiences into opportunities for math exploration.”

The addition of MathTalk reflects Illustrative Mathematics’ ongoing efforts to expand the tools and supports available to schools and communities in the IM ecosystem. These partnerships help create more opportunities for students to engage meaningfully with mathematics and see math as something they use to understand the world around them. Together, we’re helping all learners know, use, and enjoy mathematics.
